Privacy statement
Last updated 6 October 2026
This statement explains what information this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. The site belongs to Gwendolen Swain Photography (ABN 76 175 493 341), a freelance photography business in Melbourne. In this statement, “I” and “me” mean Gwendolen.
I try to collect as little as possible. I don’t sell your information, and I don’t use it for advertising.
When you get in touch
The enquiry form on this site doesn’t send anything to a server. When you press Send Enquiry, it opens your own email app with your message ready to send. Nothing is stored by the website itself.
If you email or phone me, I’ll receive whatever you choose to share — usually your name, email address, phone number and details of your event or project. I use that only to reply, to quote, and to do the work you book me for. I keep enquiry and booking records for as long as I need them for that work and for my business and tax records.
Website analytics
To understand how people find and use this site, I use two analytics services. Both are loaded through Google Tag Manager, which is a tool for managing the code on the site and doesn’t collect information of its own.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics tells me things like how many people visit, which pages they look at, roughly where they are (city or country), what kind of device and browser they use, and how they arrived — for example from a search engine or social media.
It sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) that store a random identifier, so return visits can be recognised. Google Analytics 4 doesn’t log or store IP addresses. The information is processed by Google, including on servers outside Australia. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Microsoft Clarity
Microsoft Clarity shows me how people use the pages — where they click, how far they scroll, and anonymised recordings of visits — so I can find and fix things that are confusing or broken. Clarity masks text you type into forms, so I don’t see what you enter.
Clarity sets first-party cookies (_clck and _clsk) and may set Microsoft cookies (such as MUID) that recognise a browser across sites that use Microsoft services. The information is processed by Microsoft, including on servers outside Australia. You can read the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Choosing not to be tracked
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works normally without them.
- You can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Many browsers and extensions block analytics scripts entirely. That’s fine too.
Other things the site uses
- Hosting. The site is hosted by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub’s servers record technical details of each visit, such as your IP address, for security and to keep the service running. See the GitHub Privacy Statement.
- Fonts. The typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google’s servers to fetch them. Google Fonts doesn’t set cookies.
- Light or dark mode. If you use the light/dark switch, your choice is saved in your own browser so the site remembers it. It never leaves your device.
Photographs
Some photographs on this site show people. If you’re in one of my photographs and would like it removed, email me and I’ll take it down.
Your choices and questions
You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it, by emailing me@gwendolen.com.au. If you have a concern about how I’ve handled your information, please tell me first and I’ll do my best to put it right. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes
If I change how the site handles information, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
